AOP's Inaugural Bursary Fund

With thanks to our review panel, and Accredited Photographer participants who took time to send in their funding proposals, we’re delighted to announce the first recipients of the bursary fund of up to £2,000 each.

As one of our core values, it’s important as a trade association to support our members when opportunities arise. Our financial circumstances in 2021-22 provided us with a rare opportunity to offer this AOP Bursary Fund to our Accredited & Assisting photographers.

“Delighted to be able to provide this opportunity to our Accredited and Assisting Photographers, and to see two worthy recipients who will clearly benefit from this support, and can’t wait for the results”
Isabelle Doran
CEO
"Judging entries for a bursary award is never easy as all entries are worthy of the financial assistance in their own right. The two awards this year were chosen for different reasons: Karen's entry was chosen as it will enable her to move up a step in her sports coverage through the purchase of new equipment, opening up sports photography to not just those with bulging biceps. Brendan's project was chosen as all judges felt his project was shining a positive light onto an under-represented condition. Congratulations to both, but also to all entries: Keep up the good work!"

Congratulations to AOP Accredited Photographer Members –  Karen Yeomans and Brendan Duffy who are the recipients of the inaugural AOP Bursary Fund grants.

“I am overjoyed to have been selected for this bursary and know it will make a huge difference in the development of the women’s sport projects I have planned for 2024. It’s lovely the AOP have recognised the wider benefits I aim to achieve in making this work.”

"I’m delighted to be a recipient of the new AOP Bursary fund for this worthwhile project I’m undertaking. My project involves photographing people with Down Syndrome in their working environment to highlight that in Ireland and the UK, just 12% of adults with Down Syndrome are in meaningful employment. The funds will be very helpful towards production costs for the project. Thanks again to the AOP."

Details for the second Bursary Fund will be sent to Accredited and Assisting Photographers via email shortly.
